Benefits of Using Orcid
What is ORCID?
ORCID provides a unique and persistent identifier for individuals, which helps to ensure that their contribution to different outputs is properly understood. For more information on ORCID please see their website (https://orcid.org/about/what-is-orcid/mission).
Why Connect ORCID and Researchfish?
Connecting your Researchfish and ORCID accounts means that you can log in to Researchfish using your ORCID account. As part of the connection process, you will also be asked to give permission to add or update information which will allow you to reuse any information on publications with unique identifiers already entered in either ORCID or Researchfish to update the other. Once you have connected your Researchfish and ORCID accounts your ORCID will appear at the top right of every page in Researchfish.
How to Update Researchfish with Publications from ORCID
This can be done by going to publications and clicking on add new entry and then selecting ORCID from the publication search. Your ORCID should already be pre-populated and clicking Search for Publications will display all of the publications in your ORCID profile. If you cannot see publications that you are expecting check the visibility settings of your publications in ORCID. You can only add a publication from ORCID if it has a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) and the publication is not already in your Researchfish portfolio.
How to Update ORCID with Publications from Researchfish
This can be done from the publications page (the grid view of your publications in Researchfish). If you select the publications that you want to add to your ORCID profile by checking the boxes next to them and scrolling to the bottom of the page you can select your ORCID account from the Attribute to dropdown. If you then click Apply Changes this will add the publications to your ORCID profile.
