"Nodes" - e-Val Overview
“Nodes”, or “Reporting Nodes”, allow a particular section or department of an organisation to be able to view and report on only the awards that are relevant to them, as opposed to viewing the data for the entire organisation. This allows for a more structured approach to reporting on, and administrating large volumes of awards, or subsets of a particular field.
To begin creating Nodes for your organisation, first login to e-Val, then navigate to:
e-Val > Admin > Reporting nodes.
You will be presented with the ‘Existing nodes’ Screen as shown below.
This screen will outline the various Nodes created for your organisation as well as, the associated admin users and the total number of awards assigned to each node.

To create a Node click the Add a new node button. This will then take you to the ‘Add a new node’ button found at the bottom of the page.

Here you can create your new Node by inputting the following information -
Node Name – The Name of your Reporting Node.
User Details – The name and email address of the team member you wish to administer this node.
Add – Creates the node and sends the invitation email to the relevant user.

Simply complete the text entry areas with the details of your node. Once completed you will need to click add to finalise your request and create the node on the system.
Once you have clicked add, your organisations Existing Nodes table will change to display any relevant information regarding your new node, typically the number of awards and any associated admins.

To begin inviting Node admins, simply click on the blue Send Invite button beside the relevant node (as sown in the above image). A small form will be displayed with various fields much like before. Once completed you will simply need to click Save to email the chosen admin with a request to join the node. Once the admin has accepted the invite they will have sight of any award attributed to that node and only those awards.

It is worth noting that at this time it is not possible for a single user to be both an e-Val admin and a node Admin, in this situation the user’s e-Val privileges are revoked for the duration of that node administrator’s term.
To add an Award to a node simply navigate to:
e-Val > Awards
Using the search tool, locate and select the award you wish to add using the tick box beside the entry and then select Alter Reporting Node from the drop down below the results table. This action can be performed with individual awards or en masse by selecting multiple tick boxes. Once you have selected your Reporting Node, click save to complete the action.
This process can be reversed and the option of None used to remove any award from an assigned node.

Editing a Node:
Currently the only options available to you at this point are Name and Delete. Deleting your node will un-assign any users or awards associated with this node.
If you remove a Node admin from a node you will need to contact rfclientsupport@elsevier.com to finalise this procedure and have the corresponding node marker removed from the users account.
